In January 2026, an arrest warrant was issued for Timothy Busfield in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after authorities accused him of criminal sexual contact with a minor and child abuse related to alleged incidents involving young actors on a television set. He surrendered to police on January 13, 2026, and was later released while awaiting trial. 

Busfield has pleaded not guilty to the charges. A grand jury in Bernalillo County later indicted him on four felony counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor, all of which he has denied. His trial is scheduled for May 2027.
